Tridosha siddhanta
The tri dosha siddhanta is the primary concept in Ayurveda medicine and embodies a view of health that is both simple and profound. The body functions are governed by three fundamental energies- vata, pitta, and kapha known as tridoshas. These doshas are present in every individual in varying proportions and are responsible for the diversity in human physique, temperament & susceptibility to disease. Doshas in individuals tend to fluctuate with changes in time, season, environment, age, diet, and mental state. The alteration in the natural state of doshas is known as vikruti.
Vata dosha
Formed from the elements of air and space, is the principle of movement in the body. Governs the physical and mental movements, including respiration, circulation, heartbeat, and thought process. Associated with qualities like cold, lightness, and dryness.
Pitta dosha
Formed from the elements fire and water, represents the principle of transformation or metabolism. It oversees digestion, absorption, assimilation, nutrition, metabolism, and body’s temperature. Includes qualities like hot, light, intense, penetration, pungent, sharp, and acidic.
Kapha dosha
Formed from the elements of water and earth, represents the principle of structure and lubrication of the body. It provides the physical form, structure, and smooth functioning of all body parts. Kapha is characterized by the qualities of cold, wet, heavy, slow, steady, and stable.
